I enjoyed this book. I thought all the myths around L.A. were so interesting and brought a lot to the story. I liked that this book was a bit fantasy and mystery. Holland was a great main character! This story was very well written. I still have a lot of questions after finishing, but other than that this was a great story.

This book left me feeling confused. Characters kept becoming untrustworthy, yet the main character was still easily trusting.

Caraval vibes, but make it adult. Stephanie Garber is a masterful writer and I am always swept away by her lyrical writing and atmospheric worlds.

I loved the set up for this book and the characters. I was also here for the romance set up that I thought was happening.

And while I love so much about this book, the last 10% to 20% lost me. I felt like for what I believe is a standalone, this book needed a few more things.

I loved the atmosphere in this book. The premise is super interesting and the characters are all very well crafted. However, I never felt interested by any of the love interests and you're left with a lot of unanswered questions at the end. If you're okay with more of a "slice of life" mysterious ending I think you'll love it! But if you prefer a conclusive ending and really learning about the characters, you won't get much of that here. I would describe this as a mystery set in an urban fantasy book!
