I would have given this five stars except that the main character is a bit too much of naive doofus for me and the resolution of the problem is a bit too implausible. Otherwise the characters ary well written and the book is interesting, funny, sometimes exciting. It's a fairly gentle way to show some of the Terrors that British people faced during World War II.

I never thought I'd tag a book set around the war as "lighthearted" but here we are. The premise of this was good, but didn't fully click for me to love and I can:t say why. Maybe it took me longer than needed to get into. The beginning is slow, but it does pick up. I think what it really highlights is friendships and I liked that aspect. It looked at it in many forms.

This book was pretty good! I don't think anything about it will stick with me, but it was a very lighthearted read. So many conflicts seemed like non-conflicts, even for the time period it was written in. Our main character wasn't the brightest in the box but it did make her loveable if not a bit frustrating haha! If the synopsis grabs you, and you need something that's light/feel-good in a WW2 Hallmark movie type of way, I'd pick this one up!

This is a lovely and heartwarming story about living in London during the Blitz as a young woman. It is about love, friendship and loss as well as the different ways the Second World War affected the life of a woman in her 20s. While dealing with hardship the novel is written in a humoristic style.
