Thoroughly enjoyed this book! It kept me engrossed from start to finish
If it's not worth it, that means we aren't worth it. And I can't just keep living in a world where we are aren't worth it.
Moderate: Sexual harassment and Bullying

Watch out, this girl’s got MOXIE. And I mean that in a literal sense - this book is like a middle grade, queer take on the well known YA book (and movie) Moxie. It examines, (probably uncomfortably for some readers and especially parents) sexual harassment in middle school and the numerous ways very early on that girls are sexualized, and their words dismissed - even by well-meaning adults. Therefore, it sure packs a punch. Hazel herself is a very entertaining and snarky narrator and as she opens her heart to new friends, she learns how to stand up for herself and others, and also how to learn from her past mistakes with an open mind.
Moderate: Sexual harassment
Minor: Homophobia

Hazel Hill is Gonna Win This One is a powerful novel which deals with a serious topic on an age appropriate level, it will definitely stick with me for a long time and I definitely recommend it to everyone, it is an important book, especially for younger teenagers or teenagers-to-be.
This book is SO IMPORTANT! It is aimed at younger readers, with the main character being 12 years old and in middle school, however the book deals with such an important topic and it does so in a aay that is easy for kids around 12 years of age to understand the importance of. Whilst it’s crazy to think that sexual harassment happens to 12 year olds in the book - which is what happens in different forms, online and physically, it does also happen in read life ans it is so important to address these issues. The main characters are all very strong and they fight for what is right, and even then the end is bittersweet, but that’s the reality we live in, not just these characters! I definitely think this book will stick with me for a long time, and it deals with this serious topic in an age appropriate way. to all the Ella Quinns, Hazel Hills, Rileys and Bella’s, don’t be afraid we are here for you, to all the Tylers: get help and think before you so.
I am giving Hazel Hill 5 stars as it is a book that has left an effect on me and I feel is important for people to read, as well as being well written.
Moderate: Bullying, Sexual harassment, and Body shaming

this book…. this book. i am flawed and amazed and wowowow, i’ve only recently started reading middle grade as well and as my third book in the genre, i’d say it’s going pretty well.
hazel hill is gonna win this one, is a phenomenal book that perfectly encapsulates childhood feelings and the difficulty of being understood, listened to and respected at such a young age. hazel and her friends fight against sexual harassment and stand up for themselves and others as a way to demonstrate that their age doesn’t reflect their experiences.
it was beautiful, thoughtful and so delicate when it needed to be. but primarily it is full of little kids that shouldn’t have to fight but do. and god do they put up a fight <3
the subtle queerness in this book was also!! so good!!! it wasn’t a big thing, she was queer and that was it- her experiences and behaviour didn’t change and AHHHH. i love her, this book and anyone who helped make it.
thank you netgalley for the e-arc, i am sending you a big kiss on the forehead xoxo
