Not bad, but not as great as I’d been told it was.

I found it hard to root for the romance at the beginning, because we don’t actually know much about their relationship/why they broke up for quite some time, so any (sexual) tension e.g.
the cellar scene
just seemed a bit random. Relatedly, @Harriet:
”vengeful grinding” isn’t sexy, it’s weird! He broke up with you! Pls stop!
.

Chapter 23 i.e.
Harriet and Wyn at Harriet’s home
was a turning point. It was great, and so were the chapters after that - emotional explorations of their break up,
mental health struggles, grief, pressure from your family
etc. Absolutely had me hooked.

But the ending kind of let me down again. The way I was screaming
”no girl, pls don’t start a pottery job! Please don’t make the first thing we see you enjoy your new destiny!“
- it just became cliche, but not in a good way. I also didn’t like how
Chloe’s pregnancy kind of became the main reason for her & Sabrina drifting apart. I thought the original argument was way more interesting

The side characters were likeable. The writing was generally good, aside from the “I said - he said” repetitions in dialogue. Whelan’s audio narration was great. Overall, I feel like I might’ve liked this more if I’d related to the characters’ personal struggles - but this way, it ended up just being a bit boring.

While I enjoyed the book, this is my least favorite of her works so far. Things were just unnecessarily messy and I didn't enjoy the flashbacks as much as the present day sections.

Amazing. I love me a book that helps me understand myself a little more. I cried more than I'd like to admit. Emily Henry really knows how to craft relatable and entertaining stories.
