Though I enjoyed the content in this book, it doesn’t really focus much on how to actually find your ikigai. There is a lot of interesting content about promoting longevity, however.

I was only interested in this book because of its pretty cover. Had I read the subtitle more carefully, I would have realised perhaps this is not the best book on ikigai. This is more of a take on longevity rather than ikigai if at all.

I also noticed a few inaccurate translations of Japanese words. This makes me question the legitimacy of other concepts explored especially the eastern traditions chapter.

I feel that the authors also ignored other considerations such as work/life balance & the rising prevalence of mental health issues in Japan, in favour of ikigai being a “be all end all” solution to longevity. It seems to glorify the always available and workaholic culture for the sake of having a purpose.

Overrated. All the good parts are quotations form other books. While the parts pertaining to the “ikigai” are boring.
