I want to start off by saying this was really well written. The rating wasn’t based on the author’s talent or even the premise (which is phenomenal) it’s based on the execution. I was expecting creepy horror but instead was dealt an incredible slow descent into addiction with some gory ghosts sprinkled in. I don’t mind gore - at all - however, a lot of situations were presented and left unexplained, which to a certain extent makes sense…. But it felt incomplete. The main character/narrator Erin is unlikeable to the point of detestable. She’s just… stupid, desperate and hard to relate to. Again, she’s written well for being an immature girl who falls into the wrong crowd but I really couldn’t give a shit what happened to her.

This book is just incredibly sad and dark. And upsetting in that I wanted to get justice for everyone wronged. It’s too much and not enough at the same time. There were situations that could’ve been left out all together. There was a lot of harping on the same subject repeatedly but then glossing over other, more spooky or relevant details. I think it would’ve been more enjoyable had it focused solely on the gory ghosts and the drug rather than the main focus be addiction.

fuck Silas - he’s such a POS. RIP to the security guard and Amara, she didn’t deserve that. Erin is the shittiest person I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading. Wow.
