Love stories that have chapters of the past, then the present.
Overall, this story was delicate. It's built around the Toll House and the mysterious story of its past.
Kelda and Dylan are mother and son, but even the family dynamics come with a twist. They have moved to the toll house for a new start and in a new town, new job and schoolthe last thing you need is a haunting!
Being set over two time periods its gives you why what's happening is happening and the present haunting.
There are small snippets of mystery like the mask, the small white pebbles, and marks on the wall. It's draws You to want to know what's happend.
Even staying away from the house is difficult, and the haunting once it has you will try to find you.
It was a descriptive, easy read. And the ending, I felt it needed a little more. It left me with questions.

Gosh, I’m becoming a total wetwipe with horror - some of the imagery in this really spooked me!

The best horror book I’ve read this season.
At times I was so engaged with the MC’s personal relationship and work life that I forgot that I was reading horror, making it all the more creepy when I was brought back to that.
Had to put it down after full on jumping in bed around midnight when my flatmate suddenly made a noise.
Not giving it 5 stars because it didn’t hit that wow factor, but I still loved this book, and would recommend it.
