I love Marquez’s magical realism elements and comedic, yet poetic, style. He also described settings vividly, bringing the story to life. I can appreciate the themes of companionship, grief, and love in this book, as they are explored deeply and leave the reader with much to consider.
However, I found the characters to be unlikable and many of the events to be disturbing or uninteresting, so I did not enjoy the plot. I was also disappointed by the ending, although it does seem realistic. I look forward to trying another work by Marquez as I did enjoy the writing style, just not the characters or plot.

As an introduction to Gabriel Garcia Marquez this convinced me to read his other works. The writing was exquisite and the sensuality was bursting through the pages (could have done with out the last pedo lover though) still a 5 star read!

Labai patiko. Apie meilę - daug, sodriai, tirštai. Toks jausmas, kad valgytum juodą šokoladą su daug kakavos. Reikia po nedaug ir užtenka ilgesniam laikui. Į galą darosi per daug, bet jau pabaigti tą kąsnį vis vien reikia.
Skaitosi nepalyginamai lengviau nei ,,Šimtas metų vienatvės" ar ,,Patriarcho ruduo". Rekomenduočiau pirmai pažinčiai su Markesu.

sorry but why can a grown man, who is a doctor, not replace the soap on his own? what makes him so incapable. clearly he noticed the soap ran out, why be passive-aggressive? so immature. sorry but had to stop after that - can't take him seriously.
a lot to read in here - complex relationships, with realistic views on love and marriage (I think) but I just hated all the characters. especially the child molestester stalker who is somehow the heroin/protagonist?

my first Márquez but not my last! a ridiculous and charming love story. it's witty within its own right, but utterly charming at the same time. what a fun time. I can't wait to read 100 years of solitude.
