I have never read anything by this author before and I really enjoyed her writing style. I loved the multiple POVs, I thought it really helped to bring the story to a head by the time you finish.
I thought the characters had enough depth that I found myself rooting for Lily & Cassie, while at the same time disliking Greer.
It kept me guessing pretty much throughout the entirety of the book, and I was satisfied with how it ended!

I ended up liking this book, but it took awhile to get there. the characters initially weren't likeable, an egotistical news personality, a very naive young woman and why she took on so much guilt was unclear and a jealous news producer. Add to this a mysterious, possibly dangerous source and an ex lover. Once it started moving, it got more and more interesting, while i guessed part of the twist, it was interesting to see how it played out. Most of the characters grew and most of the storylines got tied up. Overall it became a satisfying read
Slow Burn With A Bang. This is one of those slow burn mysteries that doesn't seem like the stakes are *overly* high... until you find yourself in a situation with guns drawn in broad daylight in the streets of Boston. (Yes, a touch of a spoiler, but a very minor one given the lack of other details. :D) Overall you've got three primary perspectives, two in third person (sisters) and one in first, and everyone is hiding things from everyone for varying reasons and no one really knows who to trust at all, including some of the non-perspective characters. So on that point, this tale works well - if, again, a bit slow and seemingly low-stake. But it is compelling enough to have you want to follow along and see what exactly happens, particularly once we begin to get the third perspective (which doesn't happen until around the 25-33% of the book, IIRC). Overall an inventive tale that plays with some well worn tropes and spins them a bit in a new-ish way, and for this it is very much recommended.
I was in need of a fast-paced thriller to break my reading slump and this one delivered. Lily is a successful news reporter who seems to have it all but when her source threatens to expose her imperfect past, she (and her producer, Greer) get sucked into a game of cat and mouse. The story is narrated by Lily and Greer along with the past voice of Cassie, Lily’s older sister who disappeared decades ago without a trace. I found each of their voices engaging but their poorly thought-out decisions made it hard to truly connect with their characters. Plotwise, the story is strong and twisty. I normally figure out mysteries pretty quickly but this one left me stumped until the end. I flew through it in just a couple days to uncover the truth as quickly as possible. Although it has some plot holes, it’s sure to be a popular read for anyone who loves thrillers and/or domestic suspense. Thank you to Forge Books and NetGalley for providing me with an e-galley!
Probably closer to 3.5 stars for me. My first book by this author, and will read more.
Lily is a television reporter, single with a 7 year old daughter, beautiful home, and a seemingly perfect life. Almost too perfect. But we know there's no such thing as a "perfect" life.
We learn her sister, Cassie, went missing in college while Lily was 7 years old, the same age her daughter is now. She thinks of her often, has tried to find her, but no avail.
Then we have Greer, who is Lily's producer. They aren't really "friends" but Lily is pretty much her life.
Enter an informant feeding Lily great leads. Greer getting involved. And there's much more than just an informant situation.
Will Cassie be found? What is the story there? Who is the informant?
I did enjoy some of the twists and turns, but felt these seemingly intelligent women who do investigative reporting fell for some shady things that maybe they should have looked into a little more instead of blind faith.

This book started off slow for me but the ending was crazy!! I guessed a lot of different outcomes but the plot twist was not at all what I expected! I enjoyed it and would recommend it! Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this pre-release!

Her Perfect Life is a thriller that you have to commit to. While the first quarter is somewhat slow, and the main character Lily is frustrating to read, all of it has a reason. When all the pieces come together in the end, it’s incredibly worth the time it took to get there. Ryan did a fantastic job of writing the experiences and fears of women without blaming it on mental health, or in general “being a woman”. This was truly a thriller worth reading.
This was my first thriller from this author, and I have to say I’m impressed. I will definitely be picking up more from her! I read this in one sitting and enjoyed everything after the first quarter. The final twist really surprised me, and I loved the way it all came together.
