Lily--a successful, award-winning investigative journalist--works very hard to create the perfect life for herself and her daughter, while also trying to keep her daughter out of the spotlight. When Lily was a young girl her older sister Cassie went missing, and was never seen or heard from again. As the years went by with no word from or sighting of Cassie, people began to forget about the missing girl, but not Lily. When one of her proven sources claims to know that Cassie is still alive, Lily jumps at the chance to uncover the truth, but as she investigates what happened to her sister, she begins to uncover some shocking new evidence and truths.

I really enjoyed Her Perfect Life. The events jump from the present to the past and are told through the eyes of multiple characters, revealing new information at just the right time to create suspense and mystery while also giving a complete view into the characters themselves and their motivations. There were some things that I was able to figure out early on, but there were still some enjoyable twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I found Her Perfect Life to be an exciting page-turner.

I highly recommend Her Perfect Life by Hank Phillippi Ryan to anyone who likes a good mystery full of surprises. Thank you to NetGalley and Forge Books for gifting me an advanced electronic copy of Her Perfect Life, given in exchange for an honest review; all opinions are my own.

Lily Atwood is the perfect character to resonate with a lot of us these days- everything is about appearance and so much of our lives are online now, that it seems that is what matters – how things appear. But as do all of us, Lily has secrets of her own as well, and if those get out- her perfect appearance will be a bit smudged, or worse- fake to her followers.

One of my favorite lines in the novel is “Approval is such a sister to envy.” That is all anyone wants these days, approval- and yet we envy those who have it over us. What a great line, as I feel this is the only truth in this story line! Hank once again takes you on a roller coaster ride of character, while our mind races to figure out whose is telling the truth, who is telling lies and the ultimate motive of everyone behind it all. She does another great job of weaving these storylines together.

Lily’s perfect life has a dark past, and that past is about to get exposed until she can get things back into control. A supposed dead sister- but no body was ever found, a young detective sniffing into his fathers past unsolved case, and a father not asking for much- and yet each one is being played by someone else and the strings all tie back to one culprit.

Thank you to Suzy Approved Tours for the invite, and the author for the free novel. It was another great Hank novel that I think everyone should go out and buy! You will love this one and it really makes you realize you cannot be too careful with everything being online now- all about appearances.

Lily Atwood, a famous TV reporter, has an anonymous source that feeds her story tips.  These tips result in award-winning journalism. But suddenly, the source starts telling Lily and her producer Greer inside secrets about Lily’s life.  A Secret long buried - her missing sister, Cassie.  But will the secrets of Cassie’s past haunt Lily’s perfect image?

To me, the missing family member trope is so stressful if written well. I’d say Hank Phillippi Ryan did her job because I had a nightmare while reading this one!   In my dream, my youngest son went missing.  I don’t often dream of book details, so kudos!!

With most thrillers, I suggest you start reading it with as little information as possible.  I did just that and devoured it! Tension rises with the short chapters told through Lily, Greer, and Cassie’s POV.  I found Lily to be a bit cold, but I think that’s the persona of a successful TV reporter - hardened by the news she reports.  The twisty mystery of Cassie’s disappearance told both through Cassie’s past POV and Lily’s current POV surprised me at every turn. Just when I thought I figured out this cat and mouse game, I was wrong!  I questioned who was involved and what the motives were until the crashing conclusion.

Thanks to Forge for a gifted copy for honest review!

This one is a quickly unfolding family drama featuring a tv reporter who, despite the stories she's been able to uncover professionally, has never found out where her older sister disappeared to many years earlier the author's history as an award winning television journalist lends credibility to her main character's career!). Readers will quickly figure out that Cassie's disappearance was a little complicated, but the author has a lot of surprises in store along the way. Pick this one up if you like suspenseful family stories.

First let me say... WOW! Just WOW! This book is the best I've read by Hank Phillippi Ryan. I could not put it down. Rarely do I ever stay up past ten to read but I stayed up to almost one in the morning with this one. I did not want to put it down. I thought it was just great. A story that will have you turning the pages until the very end and leave you breathless...

A seven year old, Lily, loses her sister, Cassie. What could have happened. Was she really killed and then forgotten by everyone. Or was it more. Was there something more going on. Lily lives in the spotlight now but never stops looking. Every face. Every body. She has to check and see. Could it be Cassie. Could Cassie be alive. If Cassie did somehow survive how could she ever find her. Lily lives her live to perfection. She lives Her Perfect Life for her public. She's a journalist who has many followers who adore her. If she has any secrets that could make her look bad then they must be covered up. No one must ever know. There of course there is Lily's daughter Rowen who she keeps close. No one can get too close. She does not allow pictures or anything to surface. She lives to protect her daughter. I really did like Lily. And Rowen. And Cassie.

Then there is Greer. Lily's producer. Greer is somewhat jealous of Lily. She seems to like her yet have dark thoughts about her at the same time. When she has too she will do anything to protect Lily but will she at the same time turn her back on her? I personally did not like Greer. I found her to be a tad petty and silly. She was so gullible and very self centered. But she also seemed to care about Lily's daughter Cassie. Maybe when it benefited her? I just found her to be someone I would not have liked to have around. She was a bit nosy too. At times. Her biggest problem in my opinion was jealousy though. It almost got her more than she bargained for maybe. Or not.

This book has a lot of twists in it. A lot of things to keep you turning the pages to find out what happened. What happened to Cassie. What was going on twenty some odd years ago. Lily always hoped that Cassie was alive and that one day they would be reunited. Lily also lived with a few fears. One being Rowen's dad coming into the picture. What kind of secrets lie in that story?

I throughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. It made me hold my breath a lot and shed a lot of tears. It was told in a way that made you feel the things that were happening. It has all the things you need and desire in a good thriller/mystery. All things are answered. You won't be left hanging. I thought it was very well written and told with a lot of feeling. It is basically The Perfect Story... Kudos to Ms Ryan on a job well done. It's told from three prospectives. Lily. Greer. Cassie. In the present and the past. You'll get to know each of these characters and a few more. Some others I truly did not like or throughly trust. I was right.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #HankPhillippiRyan, #Macmillion-Tor/Forge books for this ARC. This is my own true feelings about this book. Well done.

5/5 HUGE stars and the highest recommend possible. You don't want to miss this one.

On sale Sept 14th of this year.
