4.6/5 - Brutally honest exploration into the unchecked, exploitative mining industry of DRC and how it is driven by Western imperialism. For as difficult as the information is to stomach, the author writes in such an enticing manner that the pages fly by.

‘Augustine had this to say “Please tell the people in your country, a child in the Congo dies every day so that they can plug in their phones”’

This book exposes the lack of accountability in the cobalt supply chain (from both the companies and the government) which allows companies to make empty promises about their safety and child labor record while exploiting the ‘artisanal’ miners.
