I’m enjoying this sequel a lot more than the Illuminate Files’ sequels. The writers have upped their game, which was already pretty good, but they have evolved from their cookie cutter plot lines.
Regrettably Scar and Fin’s relationship feels excessively forced, and wreaks of heterosexual agenda. Zila’s coming out batting for women gets a half a point, but no full marks until we see the representation.
At least Tyler and Saedii’s chemistry feel natural.
Also, hail to the strong female characters in these books. We love a badass.
Ends on an excellent moment. Can’t wait for the next.

Sempat ada isu-isu bukunya ngga lanjut lagi ke buku ke tiga karena lumayan lama ngga ada kabar. Sudah sempat brokenheart karena penasaran banget sama ending dari seri ini. Tapi akhirnya sekitar awal tahun lalu muncul cover untuk seri selanjutnya dan mirip sama prediksi para reader-reader lainnya, wajah Finnian menghiasi cover tersebut. And he is so gorgeous! *screaming internally*

So I thought I loved AR but book 2 has blown it out of the water. This series is fast becoming one of my favourites of all time!
The character development in this book was everything I dreamed of in book 1. The focus on Zila and Tyler and making them more than what they seemed on the surface was everything I didn’t know I needed.
The twists, the cliffhanger! All too much for my little heart, if book 3 could happen right now that would be great.
This was so well paced and beautifully thought out I just love love loved it.

This is the second book this year to have robbed me of sleep, and that is the only thing not surprising about it. Everything else? Shocks and twists on every page and an ending meant to shatter reader hearts and break souls. But I can't deny how much I loved it. I've never been able to resist Amie and Jay's collaborative masterpieces, and this is no exception.
Just when I believed they couldn't make me feel deeper in love with our young heroes of Squad 312, they did so through charm and will and courage and sacrifice. Too many sacrifices if you ask me, since many characters paid a steeper price than others. I love the crew so much, each member stealing a piece of my heart, none more so than Kal. I adore him and his arc completely shattered me.
There is no shortage of action and tension and breathless moments through out the book, and the twists made my head spin. Nothing is ever as it seems and the characters struggle with what is right and what is worth fighting for. I don't know if there is a crew in the galaxy with the odds more stacked against them.
The writing styles blend seamlessly and make for some charming, fun, and swoon worthy moments. I may not forgive Amie and Jay for the ending (because cliffhangers, let's be real), but they have proved to not only be formidable talents, but expert storytellers who sweep readers off their feet and make you care about a group of misfits who are a perfect family. It is going to be agony to wait another year to find out what happened, but I am willing to wait and bite my nails in the mean time. A must have for all readers, no matter what you read.

What the FUCK was that ending?! How can you leave it like that? I mean I have like a feeling of what might happen and so I’m not worried but SERIOUSLY? Ur gonna leave me like that for likely a YEAR before the next one? Authors are made from the evil stuff that gathers under your bed or an undisturbed surface.

That ending!! I'm pretty sure the authors knew the chaos they would create in my heart with that ending. Sadistic! That's what I call it.
Also hopefully I can get this out without spoiling. but I'm super disappointed in how they handles the whole Kal thing. Not Cool!
Honestly I NEED the next book please. Like NOW...
