4-4.5 stars. I absolutely loved this book. BUT. I don’t think it lived up to how much I loved Aurora Rising. I wanted a lot more information on the Ra’haam, and while I loved the plot with the Unbroken, I had hoped Squad 312 would have come a bit closer to their goal. I also wasn’t a fan of ending the book in the middle of so many tense moments. But the biggest question this one left me with was...WTF WAS FIN’S PEN FOR?

I liked this book much better than the first one. The writing was better quality and I was ADDICTED to this when I had trouble staying invested in the first book.

I also have to talk about the AMAZING plot twists. I didn't see them coming at all, barely even had a clue to any of them and the reveals were wonderfully done.

The only complaint I really have about this one is that the pacing near the end of the book seemed a little weird, but that could just be me.

I can't wait to finish this series!!

4,5/5 stars

Aurora Burning is exactly what you'd expect the sequel to Aurora Rising to be. It has the same charming characters, the same unique writing for each of their POVs and the same insane action and not even a little bit of shame in what it's doing, as cliché as it may be.

What surprised me about this book is they did a lot of things they didn't in the first one. Mostly, character development. Zila's is particularly noteworthy, but everyone goes through changes and becomes a deeper character than they were before.

The plot twists are nice. I expected some of them and others caught me by surprise and, while none of them blew me away, I appreciate what they bring to the table.

What I don't appreciate is the ridiculous cliffhanger at the end of the book. What the hell is this? Why did they have to do this to me? WHY?! WHEN IS THE NEXT BOOK COMING OUT?! I NEED TO READ IT NOW.

There were some pacing issues around the second half of the book, but luckily they don't take long to go back to the juicy stuff, so it didn't bother me too much.

So, TL;DR: Definitely read this one if you enjoyed the first one. It's more of the same and it's slightly better in some ways, too.

Let me bask in all that roller coaster ride of an adventure. I am in awe

oh. my. gosh. This book was incredible, and one of the rare exceptions in which the sequel is better than the first book! If you loved the first book, you will really love the second one! Just remember to grab some tissues though...

(Can't wait for the third to come out!!)

OBBBBSSSESSSSSEEEDDDD ... as this is the second book in the trilogy I wont say too much other than I am in lurvveeeee with all the characters, and the storyline, and those damn twists I did NOT see coming. If you loved book 1, book 2 is totes going to tickle your fancy too.
