This was really interesting, it just didnt quite live up to the hype i had in my head for it. The book is atmospheric, really bringing you into the space with great detail throughout. The writing is well written and easy to read.
What I didnt like as much was the fact that for such an interesting premise, it felt very removed from the actual action and whole point of the story. The whole point was to show how the war was brought to the hotel but it felt more like a second background was introduced while these characters had a buffed version of what couldve been in this story. Action happened so quickly in favor of long exposition that didnt feel as interesting when so few things actually HAPPENED. IE the romance felt so forced and sudden since these characters had very little build up or even reason to fall so quickly for each other.
This was just okay, if i wanted a similar book I think id reread The Book Thief or a different novel from this era. Interesting premise but it felt
like a lot was missing.
