to be clear historical fiction is not my cup of tea, I was pulling up for Maggie Stiefvater's writing exclusively. Unfortunately this was not enough to overpower the fact that I just don't like historical fiction.

This felt like not a whole lot happened? I was bored. I didn't find any of the characters particularly rich or compelling. Insta love had me ill. There might be a fantasy/magical realism element to this if you really squint.
