I've been in a spooky mood, so I decided to read a few thriller books until Halloween. The problem is, you never know whether the book is good or not until the very end. In the case of Influencer, it was okay.

Setting up the story with Crystal Giordano as the main character felt lackluster, and the switch to Aaron Fortin didn't give too much scare factor. In addition, having the book called Influencer gave the plot away a bit too much, having Aaron do (or "plan")  these mischievous crimes in order to grow his followers.

In addition to that, the story setup took too long, and I felt it overshadowed what the book could have been, a bit more dark/mysterious/thriller outside of the Ms. Hobbes saga. Also, the ending felt very flat, and more could have easily been added to the story, maybe more about what happened to Aaron/Trevor/Harmony, but instead, it was written many years later about what had happened and seeing how Aaron was just an afterthought.

The main thing that erks me was seeing Aaron's perspective on things, because it spoiled the scare factor, as it was a given that he was behind all of this. I do see having Aaron's perspective is more getting to see the "psycho" logical thought process, but it felt very overplayed with his internal dialogues that I wanted to DNF the book.

Erm entertaining I spose. Ok but not my favourite.

Once Madame Tabitha was gone. I was over it.

Interesting concept. Hated every single character.

Not as creepy as I thought

This was an intriguing young adult horror. This book started out strong with a thrilling first chapter and I was immediately hooked. The story slowed down a bit after that as the author introduced dual points of view and as the plot and characters developed. I loved this book’s unique concept as well as the author’s writing style. Overall this was a great read that was hard to put down.

Thank you to the publisher for the gifted copy.
