Interesting: Regency era town run exclusively by spinsters and misfits!
Not interesting: Regency era town run exclusively by spinsters and misfits until alpha male military men come and take over and show the women “what they’ve been missing” and teach the men “to be real men”! (Also wild that everyone in this town is straight lol).

Lots of laugh out loud moments. I particularly liked how open the main characters were about their mutual attraction.

Aside from the possessiveness and some cliche sexist bits, this was a wonderful re-read for me!

Dnf at 50%. Too many flowery declarations, not enough plot.
Some parts are laugh-out-loud funny but most of it had me roll my eyes or speed-flipped through the pages. I like romantic comedy and a historical romance in a small town setting should be right up my alley, but no, in this case it did not work.
What a let down. I had so much fun at the opening. The scene with the sheep was so funny and charming. Then it dwindled into almost a Cliche Cove and read more like a farce. The sex scenes are numerous but don't add much to the story. The fact that I dislike Battle of Sexes plot as a rule did not help.
2.5 stars.

The book is fine. Cure even, but not as engaging as some of her other work. I am interested in seeing the stories of the supporting cast, however.
