A classic for a reason. Fascinating in sight into conflict.

I have read a Russian translation, maybe it was an even better edited and rearranged volume than the bare original.

The Sun Tzu text was compounded with similar passages from Machiavelli's 'The Prince' and illustrated with modern examples out of the International relations' history, recent military conflicts and well-known criminal cases.

It really helps to put some perspective and interpret this ancient work, otherwise some passages would have been incomprehensible without an extensive knowledge of the Chinese history.

I have this goal to finish a certain number of books by my bday. I’m so close! This was short and a classic to boot!

It was a quick read. Had a lot of interesting points. Many were so “common sense” and a lot of these tactics I see in business or other leadership books. If these ideas did come from him, I’m glad to have read the original source.

Here is one part I liked-he talks about the various points of war and includes the art of maneuvering, the art of studying moods, the art of husbanding one’s strength, the art of studying circumstances.

These are all things I think my current company could learn from and do in order to succeed. Thanks sun tzu!
