Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Clockwork Prince is the final book from “The Infernal Devices” series and I can say it did not disappoint. The story line from Clockwork Prince (the second novel) ended with one of the greatest cliff hangers. Although Jem was the obvious choice for Tessa because of his kindness and overall good-heartedness, it left the readers in agony to see how Will suffered for both of them. I think the author did an amazing job of portraying the feeling of longing, restraint and anger when seeing someone you love move on. I mean I definitely felt it! A couple of things I did not like about this book was the numerous and unnecessary story lines. Why did every character need a love interest?!? (Sophie, Cecily, Charlotte etc.) It added to the worst part of the booking which was the dragged-out plot. Holy, I though I was not going to make it. When Will set off on his adventure to Wales there were so many redundant scenes that could have been skipped and added no value to the storyline. One line that stuck with me was “We see our better selves in the eyes of those who love us.” This stood out to me because it felt like a main theme in this novel (and it was just generally very sweet and touching.) Self-doubt is strong but to see ourselves through the eyes of those who love us can give us the confidence to move forward. The ending of the book was great and almost made me teary eyed when Will passed away. I found it interesting to think about mortality as a gift rather than something to fear. To die surrounded by the people you love, rather than live forever and alone seems like a good way to go.

I have finished another re-read of my beloved books. There is a sense of accomplishment with concluding this series again.

My in depth review comes from the original time I've read this series, but I do have additional thoughts to add.

No one is going to like this, but Tessa is a Mary-Sue to her core. She needed to be rescued by Will, much an echo to the beginning of the series. The only real thing she did to defend herself was withstand the torture and transform into the angel. Everything else was done by someone else.

This critique definitely comes from the perspective of time. IF SOMETHING IS ESTABLISHED IN EARLIER BOOKS, CASSIE NEEDS TO STICK BY IT! many of the odes to the future in the epilogue do NOT match up with the Last Hours series. For instance, how many children each couple has and their respective genders. Makes no sense. For example, it's mentioned that Cecily and Gabriel have two sons. We know that is not true because of the Last Hours, in which they have Anna.

Aside from those few insights, I stand by my original review from the first time I've read this series.

Cassandra Clare, you have torn my heart and put it back together over and over again in this conclusion. You have outdid yourself in this installment. The characters were so real, I could touch them, hug them, grieve with them, Laugh with them. I am excited and terrified to continue The Mortal Instruments, afraid that it won't be as good as this trilogy, excited for glimpse of the characters i have grown to love.

OMG this book has me Sooo torn!!
Jessa or Wessa?? Idkkk.

I feel like Jem got the worst end of the deal. Everything he has been through, and how he is so gentle and kind to everyone and he gets the saddest ending other than death. My heart is broken for him! At the very end he finally gets the happy ending so I will take it. I feel like the love they had prior Tessa was mostly forcing for him because she loved Will more. Maybe with Will no longer around she can give Jem the love he truly deserves now.

Now I need more Jem and Tessa!!

Then on the other hand... I'm so happy for Will because his character development is everything. I can't help but love him and be happy for their happy ending.

Talk about Tessa being the definition of having your cake and eating it too! She got both loves in the end.

Although... My God... Him and Tessa could have at least confirmed Jems death or have a moment to mourn before climbing into bed together... You have got to be kidding! 🤦‍♀️ How dare they. I felt so betrayed for Jem but of course he was understanding as always!

I absolutely adore Sophie and Gabriel though 🥰 they are so cute!!

I'm glad Charlotte finally got the recognition she deserves and that Henry didn't die. I'm so happy she gets to get a happy ending too that woman really deserves a break.

Wtf i need to write a whole long review on this because the ending sucked shit and towards the last 200 pages i discovered many issues.

OKaY SO *SPOILERS* ISH

It is NOT possible to love two people equally okay, especially when it comes to love interests.
TESSA DID NOT LOVE WILL AND JEM EQUALLY!
sHE Clearly bloody loved Will more and JEM was always second choice.
Like all she thought about was WIll, will, will even whilst 'engaged ' to Jem
AND ANDDDD she bloody has sex with Will aFTER finding out jem died and both of them mourning his death.

SHE BLOODY ENDS UP WITH BOTH OF THEM LIKE IDGAF If one fandom is gunna cry cuz she ends up with the other DONT BLOODY DO THAT, oNE PERSOn or none.

Another thing (BIG SPOILER) wtf BRUV why WHYY did he become a silent BROTHER AND HOW TF DID he turn back into a human agaiN. I THOUGHT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE, (I havent read city of heavenly fire yet)
