After rereading the first volume I bumped it up to a 4 star from a 3.75 star. The first volume in a manga series usually isn’t the one that gets me hooked on the series, mainly because I haven’t connected to the characters yet and the author is just laying down the ground rules for the plot...
but I must say the second volume of this was REALLy good omg. I was in it for the action and how manipulative the main character was about everything. We had a few moments with some insults towards women that I wasn’t the biggest fan of but I digress. I rated this volume 4.5 and with the average rating of both volumes my final rating came to be 4.25 stars.

It's funny how my rating ended up being the same as my first read. Once again I flew through the first volume in this and it gave me 5 star feels just like the first time but I also stopped at almost the exact same spots in the second volume. It's like the story hits a lull and I have to push myself to finish it. Moreover, I kind of forgot about all the misogynistic comments that are said in this edition, it was a bit too much for me this time around to give it an excuse on the writer's part. I understand that this was published a while ago but it gets worse the more times you read them.

Very creepy. It kept me on my toes. At this point I'm not even sure who I'm pulling for. Ready for the next volume.
I forgot how good this was, wow. Sometimes I had to reread dialogues because of my one braincell that didn't get all the mind games, but in general I think Death Note has this awesome way of making a complex plot easy to understand. I could have done without the early-2000s misogynistic remarks here and there, but they were very few.
The stakes? Exorbitantly high. Soaring. Tremendous. The plot twists? Masterful. Frantic and relentless and constant. I am still in awe. I feel like I'm fourteen and obsessed again. (I mean, I am not fourteen anymore but I'm well and truly obsessed.)
