8/10. I liked this book the best out of the trilogy. It had the most romance, Jude finally had people she could trust and lean on, and the trajectory of the plot also made sense. Additionally, I will say that there were a few times that I was genuinely surprised which does not happen very often to me. I don't wholly love the romance between Jude and Cardan but I like it well enough. This isn't a stand-out series to me and I don't know if I will read it again considering I did not like the first book very much but I like it well enough to keep the books on my shelf.

I can't decide between 4.5 and 5 stars, but that stellar ending is pushing me to give 5 for now !! I cried for like 10 minutes at one point near the end.. Had to physically shut the book, calm down a bit, and then continued on all teary-eyed til the end 😅

I was incredibly nervous going into this book, as Wicked King was NOT IT for me. I had so many problems with Jude in that book that kinda ruined it for me a bit.... However !! Maaan this book was just incredible. Jude got her act together & was , honestly?? Kinda badass & competent. I was very impressed! It probably helped that her sisters kinda bullied her a bit for keeping everything to herself!

My favorite thing about this book was the focus on Jude's family drama. Like, Cardan/Jude was still a great part (so many moments in the final third made me terribly weepy), but ! I just love the family issues in this one so much!

Madoc was always my favorite character, and seeing things with him come to a head was so so exciting!! I loved , too, getting to hear more of him like.. Just talking? His pov on things & his relationship with his family? There was an incredible conversation + heartbreaking scene between him & Jude about halfway through that made me sooo emotional... 💔 I think >half of my post-its in this one were just for Madoc lines. He's SUCH a good, interesting character-- Holly Black where's my Madoc character study novella !! T_T

This was an amazing ending of the folk of the air series! I read it in like 2/3 days because I could not put it down😍 At first I was kind of disappointed, it felt like I was reading the wicked king all over again. Jude was in pain and agony, court problems, scheming schemes, Cardan is a dick, why can’t they confess their love to each other, more scheming.
But then it just kept getting better and better. Omg I loooove this book it was a great reading experience and I could kill to read I again for the first time.

I love the character development both Jude and Cardan has done. I nearly started crying when Cardan told Jude that he loved her. But I think that Black focused too much on scheming and too little on Jude and Cardan. Yes they got each other in the end and that was truly beautiful and heartwarming but that was like the 3 last pages. And they had their little sex scene in the middle but other than that it was not much of them tightened. I would like a bit more romantic stuff etc. ONE QUESTION IS JUDE GOING TO DIE OF OLD AGE AND CARDAN IS JUST LEFT ALONE???? FOR ETERNITY??? PLS 🤟😞
I loved how it was not sure how the book would end, it was hell believe me, but I was always asking myself if Cardan would be a serpent forever or if he would die or if he would be tamed or something else. It was nerve racking. I also loved the little side story about Heather and Vivi, I was kind of invested.
HOLLY BLACK THANK YOU FOR GIVING JUDE A BREAK IN THE END FINALLY SHE DESERVED THAT SOOO MUCH🥲🥲 JUDE HAS BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH IT HURTS THINKING ABOUT. I HOPE SHE CAN REST FOR A BIT NOW.

I am truly heartbroken that this series is over. It had its ups and downs but in conclusion it was really good. The last book is the best one, I think. Maybe the first. - I can’t decide. No queen of nothing is the best, maybe, I love it so much. Easy 5/5 I’m gonna reread it soon.

I still really liked this book. No major downsides! It definitely could have been longer. This series really got me into political fantasy. As a final statement: I hope they all get some SERIOUS therapy after this

As a whole, I felt that this was a solid ending to the series! I had so much fun with this story and all that it brought.

I will say the main flaws within this book mostly revolve around pacing. It was incredibly slow in the first half, then a break, and then went by so quickly. So, if you want to read it, maybe keep that in mind.

I also felt that the ending did seemed a bit rushed but nevertheless was satisfying to read.

Overall, I loved the characters of this series and felt they basically made these books. And, I thought the plot and setting held well. Will always wish for more Jude and Cardan scenes! ❤️
