Definitely a standout from the rest of the series!

How I wish I could live in my own version of Three Pines, notwithstanding its snow levels and death count, HA.

This book is full of excitement. It follows two ‘cases’ simultaneously with a full cast of characters from three pines and the police force. It brings a lot of things full circle and leaves you wondering what’s next for Gamache. I really enjoyed this installment in the series and am eager to start the next one.

Not one second do I hesitate to rate this a 5! Sooooooooooo good. Louise Penny is a wonderful, talented author. Her books about Inspector Armand Gamache of the Quebec Surete are so well written. If you like mysteries at all I highly recommend you read these. You must start with the first (Still Life) and read them in order to truly appreciate all that interconnects and to build the relationships with the characters that makes this 9th book in the series so profoundly beautiful! Before I read this I was besotted with Bury Your Dead (which I believe was #6), but this one takes the crown. I just have to end by saying I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!
