I really enjoy the idea of this book! I loved learning more about lesbians and their experiences, both in history and today. My main problem with this work is the structure and how the author writes about some things.

When she's coming from a historical angle, its amazing, and then when we get some of her life story, there are parts where I really relate and find her insight and stories a true benefit to the overall book.  On the other hand, sometimes I don't know what's real and what's not. She occasionally likes to ramble into the fantastic, and it's super distracting when she speculates and fantasizes about the people she's talking about out of the blue. There were many sections that I underlined and wrote something like, "What does this even have to do with anything?" or "Why? or just simply, "WTF?"

I didn't even deliberately make a decision to stop reading this book; I just realized after months of setting it aside that I had no real interest in picking it up again because the way it's written is just not something that appeals to me. It will either be your cup of tea, or it won't be - and for me, it's not.

A lot of it feels made up, which I understand why. There's gaps in the narrative. Just didn't get why she keeps falling in love with them. Very romanticized.

amelia possanza loves and admires lesbians so much it’s extremely palpable and the dedication she’s put into this archive and history of lesbians is so rich. i have no more snarky one liners about how relatable this is, it’s just so so good and so well done, i have the utmost respect for archivists of lost history
