Oh dear :(( not his finest - poorly executed, so obvious it’s tedious and the cockroach thing doesn’t really work, and isn’t done consistently or well enough to make sense

A (sort of) fun Brexit satire/homage to Kafka from Ian McEwan. Is it well-written? Yes of course. Is it entertaining? At times, yes. Is the characterisation of the politicians of our lives accurate? Unfortunately yes. It’s all recognisable stuff, but I’m left feeling it’s a bit undeveloped, or unrealised. It’s a step up from Machines Like Me Mr McEwan, but you can do better.

Brexit satire - maybe I would have got more out of it I had read Kafka's Metamorphosis, or maybe there's just not an awful lot to it but after the shit-show of an election we had last week, I don't think I wanted to go too deep with anyway.

Read for uni

A strange and wonderful allegory for Brexit, framed in a pseudo-Kafkaesque story of a cockroach who one day wakes up as the Prime Minister of the UK. Requires some background knowledge on Brexit, UK parliament and parliamentary proceedings, but is only 100 pages and worth it for a bit of a laugh!

This was a fun political romp. I didn't think Ian McEwan could be that angry.

So glad this was just a novella. A good length and an entertaining jaunt of a read.

I didn't like this book, it's too obvious, unless you have no idea about British society and politics.
