I read somewhere that someone described this as "great as long as you don't mind being confused until the end," which sums it up but it was a fantastical ride. The house itself is it's own character so I loved figuring out the mystery of the house along with Piranesi. He has a great fondness and love for the house and you can really feel it through the prose. I think having finished it, I might enjoy more on a re-read knowing what I know now. It was a bit slow at first but really amps up quickly since it is a short read. But I feel like Clarke accomplished a lovely beginning, middle, and end and it felt complete. Will definitely re-read it in the future.

The main character's curiosity and kindness were so endearing, making me feel connected throughout the journey. The book reveals just enough of the main story to keep you on edge, and the extensive world-building is simply captivating. It's like piecing together a puzzle, and even months later, I still think about it.

What a truly joyful, kind, and beautiful read. Piranesi reminds me of my dreams of endless homes, endless reflections of life & the love of the world & its inhabitants that I hold so dear. 

Holy fuck this book rocks.

Piranesi lives in what he calls "the House" collecting data and making notes. There is no one living with him, just the Other, who visits twice a week and asks questions. One of these questions is strange and Piranesi starts looking back over his data and everything starts slowly coming to light. 

The story was definitely slow, atmospheric and mysterious. We only find things out as Piranesi does and are just as confused as he is most of the time. I honestly didnt put it together until near the end and was so pleased with it. 

Another "just vibes" book but any attempt at describing vibes would spoil the book.
