This book was the tonic I needed on a long long car journey to Harrogate. I decided it was high time to give Jack another go after our last outing. I am so glad I did. He behaved in this book, he didn't get involved until he was asked to be involved.

I was so gutted at a point with this book, a character I became fond of, had an unfortunate end, and there was only one man to blame, stupid radio. I also suspected he was behind everything, and despite the misdirects I was right! I am livid!! Then came a mini breakdown for Jack, and we finally met Susan Turner (who is in Never Go Back but I have watched the film...) so it was nice to see their initial meeting. But that ending we have for her, well we know there will be blowback...if you have read the book and watched the movie.

I was on the edge of my seat throughout, as we had a ticking time bomb at the end of almost every chapter as we counted down the 61 hours we had. It was intense! I am just sorry about the outcome for some people. Plus thank god I know I have another 15 books because if I were up to date with this series, I would seriously not be happy right now!!!

Jack and I can now resume this relationship, and I will be looking forward to listening to Jeff Harding narrating the book - I just adore his voice. Even he seemed to have forgiven Jack this time out as he wasn't shouting!! So there is progress.

Decent book but the ending came too quick

I LOVE this book. This is the last Reacher book I read (not counting the ones that were released after I finished the series till that point) and it's so much fun. I like the setting, I like the town (though it's a bit reminiscent of the one in Nothing to Lose (which was awful), I like the characters, and I LOVE the villains and the mystery and how Reacher solves everything and the ending and it's all just masterful and wonderful. I highly recommend this for a deep dive into the Reacher universe.
