3.9 AVERAGE

damn good from start to finish, evrn though it was easy to predict wer the story was headed it did nt seem to hinder my interest with the book..! start to finish it took me 10 hours to finish 61 hours..! :p

Disappointed!!

A wafer thin plot executed in a not so gripping manner, left me feeling annoyed and bored for most of the time. Easily guessable minor twists here and there made the reading experience even worser..!

Actual rating: 3.5 stars

I am being pretty lenient with the rating because the plot is a plus point.
This is my first Jack Reacher book and I am glad I took the better one out of the lot.

One positive point of the book is that if you have not read any Jack Reacher yet, you will fall in love with him via 61 hours such that you will want to know more about him.

Pros:

The plot is very good. A page turner.

Cons:

Narration. The narration was a bit confusing and I couldn't get a few points thus had to reread a few pages.

Jim Grant or Lee Child is not a master story-teller in anyway, but it is very much evident that Jack is one character close to his heart and he will do anything to make Jack's story/investigations interesting.

This is my first introduction to Lee Child and his character, Jack Reacher. It was a great thriller and a welcome change from previous reads. In addition, the author did not use the horrible f-word, which usually keeps me away from such thrillers. I will be reading more from this series, perhaps starting with number 1!

This was a classic Jack Reacher thriller, but with a far more bittersweet twist than I normally expect from Lee Child.

In this one, Jack Reacher is in Dakota (I think it's North Dakota) and purely by chance he ends up in a prison town after his bus crashes in the weather. Then he gets involved in a witness protection situation and chooses to stay in town. We flash between Reacher's point of view and that of Plato, a drug dealer who likes to torture people to make a point and the antagonist.

This one was quite gripping, it kept me reading on and there wasn't a point where I was getting bored of the plates spinning in the air, like with some other Jack Reacher novels that I've read, and there wasn't a romance shoehorned into the text, which was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. However, like I mentioned before, this was a far more bittersweet novel that I first expected. Not only does
the good cop die but the sweet old lady witness Reacher bonded with died too
.

And then we had that ending with the small cliffhanger. Not too much of one because
Lee Child is not going to kill Jack Reacher until he is well and truly done with him
but it was far more than I have ever gotten from a Jack Reacher novel before.

None of this was bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting and it's not really why I read Jack Reacher novels either. 3.5 stars!

This is the first time I've read any Lee Child books and did so upon recommendation of my dad. I enjoyed the storyline of this one and Jack Reacher's character whom I assume more is revealed about in each of the many books that features him. The other characters in the book lacked depth to me and I predicted who the villain was, which is why I gave it three stars instead of four. For an action-writer, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up any of his stuff again.

I've never read a Lee Child before and it was exactly what I thought it would be. Set in South Dakota, it was a fun read for Summer while basking in the heat and reading about the -30 degree temperatures.
