When I began reading about Molly, I was taken aback by
the gruesome way in which she made people disappear with pigs.
However, as I delved deeper into her backstory, I began to understand how she ended up doing that sort of job and resorting to such tactics.

It was heart-wrenching to read about how Molly had
to make the agonizing decision to give up her sister for adoption, but I believe it was the right choice to give her a chance at a 'normal' life.

Molly and Cage are two of the most lovable characters. Molly, in particular, underwent a remarkable transformation as a character.
She had endured life-altering experiences that would have left anyone guarded and closed off to others. Nevertheless, Cage proved to be dependable and supportive, and Molly developed complete trust in him over time.

One thing to bear in mind is that the book has trigger warnings that should not be taken lightly.

I didn’t enjoy Haunting Adeline but enjoyed Hunting Adeline a bit more because it showed Adeline being badass. Why am I saying this? Well, I love badass women who can fight back. So, Molly became one of my favorite characters H.D Carlton has written. Just like Adeline, I was rooting for Molly to make it and she did. And I LOVED Cage. He seemed like a softer version of Enzo, and I LOVE Enzo. Jesus Christ, I love Cage and how upset he got when Molly came back but instead, he just forced himself into her life but not like a stalker (*cough* Zade *cough*) because he just says that he wants to watch a movie with her just because he wants to be with her, and I liked how Molly just accepts it begrudgingly. And how he encouraged Molly to talk to her sister and how Layla didn’t push her away. I was crying, it was that sweet. I also enjoyed how Cage had a reason why he helps people unlike Zade who just does it because he can. But I enjoyed the ending where Addie and Zade make an appearance (despite me not enjoying their book that much) but reading how Addie had a tattoo for Molly because she saved Addie when she got trafficked because of her journal and that made me tear up. It wasn’t dark compared to the Cat & Mouse duet, but it was still dark, and I enjoyed it. It’s right under Does It Hurt? Oh and the thing that H.D Carlton is known for, the spicy scenes. I blushed at the things Cage said during the scenes like my mouth was on the floor. Oh my God H.D Carlton CAN write sex scenes. I’m down bad for Cage just like Enzo. You don’t know how much I need a man like them. Please read this book.

NOT THE CLIFFHANGER OH MY GOD. This is so good and so cathartic after reading the Cat and Mouse Duet and having so much love for Molly. She deserved the story she was given in this novella and it was amazing—goodbye

“At one point in our lives, we don’t know our soulmates at all. But that doesn’t make them any less of one. Sometimes… sometimes you just know.”

H.D. Carlton does it AGAIN. She’s the queen of dark romance. It is suggested to read Haunting/Hunting Adeline and Satan’s Affair first to really understand Molly’s past trauma. I devoured this dark romance, second chance book in one sitting. I highly recommend all of her books, but check the trigger warnings prior if you have any.

Being back in this world for a short time was fun and as always… dark as hell.
Molly did not disappoint and this book was as hot as it was disturbing and gory.
And I ate that shit up, just like the pigs.

🐖🐖🐖

Molly had just about the hardest backstory to read. This poor girl had been abused and neglected her entire life and even though she devoted every second of it to making sure her baby sister didn’t have to suffer, life still managed to snuff out the one good thing she had.

I was relieved we didn’t have to relieve parts of that house of horrors but it was interesting seeing a little about Rio and what she felt on the other side of that journal.

When we meet Molly present day, she is a damn badass. Chopping up bodies for the pigs and owning her life in the shadows. And while I didn’t form an attachment to Cage for a while, boyyyy did he come out swinging. In the beginning, his obsession was corny as hell but everything about him was so endearing. And I adore that this short book wasn’t just about Cage & Molly, it was deep and it got me in my feels.

And as if it couldn’t get better, Cages mom absolutely cracked me upppp.
Molly better be ready because her future MIL is going to make every family get together a blast.

I think this was one of the most satisfying endings I’ve read, even if I did wonder how things turned out with Molly & Layla’s relationship. But, in my mind, there's no doubt that kid wanted her sister around and she’s probably in therapy right now trying to work through all the new information she has about her childhood but simultaneously happy she has that piece of her filled with her big sister around.
*In my head, Molly also went to the store clerk that tried to help her and let him know she was okay because that poor man…* 🙃

Genuinely, we got so much closure and depth in this story and I LOVE that.

The extended epilogue literally had me kicking me feet, I was so fucking excited to see Addie & Zade! Now I need more.
