I didn’t really have any expectations going into it. I loved Haunting Adeline, wasn’t a fan of Hunting Adeline or Does It Hurt? But, I wanted to give it a shot. 

Cage appeared back in her life too conveniently. I personally think she should’ve left Layla alone because that’s a lot of trauma. Also, is she going to stop the pig feeding stuff if Layla hangs out more?

And the whole jump to Zade at the end was a cheap, fast ending. It didn’t give me any closure or want to read the next book.

slow start but as it picked up, i couldnt put it down! while i know hails said this would be short story on molly; i really wished it was longer! so much questions, i need answers. i also wished we got to see molly & layla’s reunion & how it played out. nonetheless the extended epilogue was everything!! zade & addie’s cameo was the cherry on top 🥹

This was the perfect novella spin off to the cat and mouse duet. Mollys story was HEARTBREAKING but her and cage were so intense and powerful I loved them. I legit cackled out loud at the names of the pigs 😂. The spice wasn’t over whelming and was worked in perfectly. HD Carlton does not miss when it comes to dark romance. And the sneak peak of zade and Addie at the end was perfect I was so happy that Addie finally got to meet Molly. The only downside is just me being greedy wishing the book was longer lol

I love this universe and author... but I won't lie- I was kind of disappointed... We were perfectly set up for another Hunting Adeline type story..

Instead, everything was just.... skipped? I felt like so much was glossed over. I didn't have the best connection to cage & I don't understand her leaving Layla the day before she was starting over in a nice new life.... She could have easily taken Layla with her and had her name changed.

Anyways, with all the complaints- I did genuinely enjoy the book. Molly was amazing and gave a good look into how trauma taints you for years to come.

Her inability to distance herself from her past is so familiar to so many trauma survivors. I loved the reaction of Molly meeting Layla and her adoptive parents. It was a realistic view at how reunification can be tough on everyone involved.

and ofc, the book was SEXY.
