I am in awe of Aubrey Wynne's writing, and this story really struck a nerve with me. It's full of true life turmoil and a love so strong, it transcends time. Laura Beth and Joe have been in love forever. Looking forward to their impending marriage, obstacles continue to obstruct their path to happiness. Now drafted into the Korean War, the two decide to get married before Joe's deployment, and Laura Beth is now having their first child. Their love is so strong, and with the return of Joe, they begin their life together. But true to real circumstances, things do not always go as expected. Their daughter has a rare disease, Laura Beth is expecting their second child and Joe is experiencing PTSD. Does this family ever get the break they deserve? It's heart wrenching, it's passionate, it's tear jerking and full of love. I could feel the pain these two went through, the family regrets and the fear of loving a new. I have not been moved by a book like this in quite a while and really loved it.

Sara K Sheckells does an amazing job with this story. Her voice pulls every emotion into it, taking you right into Laura Beth's and Joe's world. You can feel their excitement and grief and most of all their love. It's a wonderful narration.

This was a sweet story taking place during the Korean War. As per the author's usual, she took a real life couple and expanded on their story. Joey and Laura Beth are a relatable couple with very real challenges. I originally read the story when it was published as Love's Challenge. I was hoping more would be added (specifically during the three year gap Joey was at school). The scene that was added was a little risque compared to the sweetness and Christian references through the rest of the book. But overall it was an enjoyable story.

For the Love of Laura Beth by Aubrey Wynne is the fourth book in the Chicago Christmas series. This is the story of Laura and Joe. They fell in love as children and had their lives all mapped out until Joe is sent to Korea during the Korean War. When he returns life does not fall back into the norm. Joe is dealing with the aftermath of having been deployed into a war zone and Laura is dealing with her own problems. Will the strength of their love overcome all of their challenges?
This is a well-done and sweet story. The characters are well written and the story was interesting. The story was sad but uplifting as well. I liked the realistic, non fairy tale aspects of the story. Life is a struggle and we have to figure out what is important to us. I will be looking for more from this author in the future.

This was a beautifully written and highly emotional read. The author’s attention to detail during the story was excellent and I really felt like I was right there along with the characters. This is my first read of anything by this author and she has really impressed me with her vivid storytelling. I will absolutely be looking forward to reading more from her in the future. I loved reading about Laura Beth and Joe – I was so wrapped up in their story, the highs and the lows. I think because I was so invested in them I found it really emotional in parts, I was desperate for them to get their happily ever after. I love historical romance stories but I haven’t read one with a war-time setting so it was really interesting to read and I had a hard time putting it down.
A moving and emotional read that I highly recommend!

This is a heartwarming and heartbreaking Christmas story that will bring you hope. This is a story about Laura Beth and Joey. They thought they had the future figured out until the Korean War threw a wrench into it. What they didn't realize is the struggle after Joey comes home. Their story is emotional and warming at the same time. They are well thought out characters that are strong and made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.

This is a story about the perils of war and life in general. The sweet heartbreaking reality of war and the sweet heartbreaking reality of life. For the Love of Laura Beth is a story about effects of war on the young men and their families in the 1950’s, which is still pretty relevant to today. It’s also about family. Important then. Important now. This is a heartbreaking story about love and loss; hope and survival. This story is too real.

“You’re not the first and won’t be the last to feel forsaken.”

This story involves a twist that wasn’t expected, turning this story from a general heartbreak to an ugly cry heartbreak. But the power of love is there to pull us through.

“I was so afraid of the pain, but I’ll miss all the joy.”

This story was a slow Sunday afternoon type of read and that’s why the twist hits so hard. Great, simple caring characters.

I recommend a tissue box while reading this great story.

For the Love of Laura Beth is the fourth book in A Chicago Christmas Series by Aubrey Wynne. This is a wonderful, moving historical romance, set in and around the Korean War. This “Christmas story’ is woven around friendship, family bonds, sacrifice, resilience, strength, determination, overcoming obstacles, love, and drama.
I loved the way each chapter starts with an inspirational quote, as this added to the whole ‘feel’ of the story.
A very emotional, well written and thought-provoking read. The characters really made the story for me. It was entirely realistic, relatable, and believable- because Ms. Wynne has a talent for weaving (real) historical elements into her stories and bringing everything ‘to life’!
Looking forward to reading more of Ms. Wynne’s work.

Thank you, Ms. Wynne.

For the Love of Laura Beth (A Chicago Christmas Book 4) by Aubrey Wynne

This is my first read by this author and I am in love..This book touched every emotion and the flow of the words were simply perfection. The only negative I have about this book was that it ended, I could have read this story for so many more pages. So I will absolutely be checking out everything else available. It only took a couple pages for me to fall completely for these characters...My heart broke when he received the letter and can't imagine how he felt knowing he had to tell his girl, and then I try to imagine how she felt when she found out he was leaving.

I cried more than once while reading this story and just love how this author made me feel like I was living in 1952 and everything just felt so real and I'm sure that this story would hit hard many that lived through and experienced these exact times. I was a complete mess throughout.

I can't recommend this story enough it's an awesome story written perfectly!

For the Love of Laura Beth (A Chicago Christmas Book 4) by Aubrey Wynne maybe a quick red but it is a beautiful and compelling story that packs a punch. It is a bit of an emotional tale of two people madly in love but separated by war. But war isn’t the only fight this couple have to deal with. It is a well written and flows nicely and the characters are wonderfully woven in to real life people.

Laura Beth and Joey face many challenges in their journey both together and alone but the biggest one yet may leave them shattered beyond repair.

This is one beautiful and compelling story that should be on your to read list. Oh and don’t forget some tissues.

This beautiful tale was so honest and charged with emotion that I felt like I was walking with the characters through the pages. Although short in length, the story is rich in detail and fully developed. The author does a beautiful job with these characters and providing them with depth and realism. I felt this book stood on its own well as I had not read any other book in this series prior to this one. But I will now gladly go back and read the other books in the series. A short and wonderful read!
