The sonmi and zachry sections are truly phenomenal. Im not sure if i put the book down in the wrong place but it felt a little like the momentum petered out towards the end. Absolutely an amazing amazing book with some astoundingly beautiful thoughts and characters, requiring work, investment and trust from a reader that absolutely does pay off.
The consistent racism throughout is some what uncomfortable. Understandable in older period stories, and makes sense that its contributing to the theme of people harming one another, but it didnt pull together into a clear enough, succint point that it feels gratuitous and therefore racist to include. The biggest problem of the book for me for sure.
