I wish this series would focus more on Artemis as a person. He has these two new siblings, wouldn't it be great if we got more time to see his forming connection with them? Same between him and Holly, him and his mother, him and Butler. It is the characters that have me coming back to these books, despite a complete disinterest in the convoluted, difficult-to-follow, plots. I don't know. All through this series, the only parts I've cared about have been the very beginnings and the very endings. I'm not saying that plot is overrated, but I read for the characters first, plot second. A good plot enhances the characters. This could be such a great series, the characters do have rich backstories and so much potential. It's really a shame to see it all wasted.

In which Artemis meets himself coming forwards going backwards and we get to do a compare and contrast to see how much his character has grown.

This one is all timey-wimey, as the Doctor might say, and it's a fun tale, but it didn't really make me laugh out loud as a couple of the earlier ones have done.

There's more of the young demon No1, which is ace (I think he might be overtaking Foaly as my favourite character), and not too much Diggums, which is also ace. There are also two new Fowls, Artemis' twin brothers Myles & Beckett -- another nod, I imagine, to Greek mythology and one to Samuel Beckett -- who might grow on me.

I'm a little bit flabbergasted by how long it took me to read this one because I genuinely adore this series and I usually really love time travel stories (+ I loved Artemis' take on how time travel works). So I'm honestly going to put this down to me being a bit slumpy, because every book in this series is solid. Honestly, I haven't even finished this series and I already can't wait to reread it!

First time read April 2010
When I saw this book on a shelf at a bookstore, I was practically jumping up and down hysterically. I can't believe I could find this book there! I didn't imagine to buy it. But my dad actually bought it for me. Oh well...
It was an amazing book! Better than the third, I think. I became more in love with not only Artemis, but all the characters. I just love Eoin Colfer, he makes such a great book with great plots...
I just can't wait to get hold of the other 4 books (yes, I haven't read all of the books in the series).

Second time read September 2011
Well, this time I read the book after I read the previous books so I knew a few more things and, I think it's still one of the best of the series so far. It's twisty and unexpected, a little less funny but more emotional, especially Artemis and Holly's new relationship! XD
I really enjoyed this book. Very good and absolutely amazing. Worth the price tag (:

Didn't like at first, but found it was much better after rereading it. Great character development.

Very awkwardly paced.  Repeated that 3 year time gap about every other page which was annoying.  Also weird to have the excessively convenient aging up and aging down that felt like such an excessively and sorta pervy fanservice-y moment.  Also, what the crap happened to Minerva?  She's just... forgotten?   The time travel stuff was also a little too handwavey and unconvincing.  10 year old Artemis was fun but felt like a missed opportunity.

Artemis' baaaaack....

Seri kali ini bermain-main dengan linearitas waktu dan paradoks yg ditimbulkannya. Dan dasar Artemis, umur 10 atau 18, cerdik liciknya gak berkurang sedikit pun. Mau jadi bad boy, mau jadi good boy, setengah-setengah, atau dua-duanya sekaligus.

Ide dasarnya sih gak terlalu orisinil.

Asyeeeeem tenan.

Nb2. jadi gini, tadi pas baca kok nemu banyak typo, kayak seri akhir barty aja... terus terpikir, jangan-jangan... terus ngecek ke halaman depan... ternyata.... 😏

Book 6 of this YA series is much like the others in the series. There is not much special to say about this edition. It continues the exploits of Artemis as he continues to grow a conscience. The funnest part of this caper is that it involves time travel, so Artemis ends up in a battle of wits with his younger, arrogant self. Another enjoyable installment in the series.
