The Astronaut Dream Book by William Pauley III
⭐️⭐️.5 /5

Genre: Doom fiction, Horror, Sci-fi
Synopsis: A poison man dreams of astronauts

Review: All in all this was entertaining enough to finish. It is a little outside of what I would normally read but since it is a short novella 1.5 ish hour listen I decided to give it a try. I don't feel like the story had any type of plot and it made it hard to keep up with. It honestly reminded me of a fever dream or a story somebody would write if they were on psychedelics. The end was the best part of this book, and started to at-least reflect a semblance of a story. I think individuals into this genre would probably like it a lot more then I did.

I really like how different all the books in this series are from one another. Once again this book is kind of stand alone but with references that you’ll appreciate it you read the others. Once again also the characters, the world, EVERYTHING is crazy and this book, like the others, will have you questioning your sanity and peeling back your walls in search for green mucous.

I loved the psychedelic astronaut scenes, a very surreal romp and I really hope that the Church of the Dead is canon somehow. This book also has the first reference to THE (imagine that was in italics) Bedlam Bible ahhhhhhh! Very excited to see how you continue the story, Mr Pauley.

This was a wild read. I recommend the audiobook because the narrator was amazing.
I was a little confused at the beginning but the second half really tied it together. If you’re into strange/spooky/horror books this one will be for you.

This was a quick interesting read about a man who dreams of astronauts. I enjoyed the combination of horror and sci-fi and though I’m not sure if I understood what happened, there was still and unsettling fear that was instilled in me. The scenes were vibrant and intense -- especially the story about the boy, his mom, and the dog man. I’m not sure if this is for everyone but it’s oddly creepy and very weird if you enjoy that!

I will always read this author. His short, trippy, horror stories are captivating. I listened to the audio book and I really enjoyed it. This story did not disappoint! Anything that I read and I can say “what the heck did I just heck did I just read” is 5-Stars in my book. Also, I absolutely love this cover.

I'm not familiar enough with the genre of horror, but somehow listening to those short novellas takes me out of my comfort zone. This time, we have seemingly separate short stories that, in the end, come together into the last chapter that explains a bit more about what we experienced. It's different from the previous installment: White Fuzz, tho it still covets the nasty and ugly bugs and other pests. This time, we are out in space, Venus to be exact where some strange creatures attacked the astronaut that miraculously survived in this environment. This experience changes him. Later on, we met other characters, I was a little bit lost on their connection to the story, but what captivated me most was the writing and voice of the narrator. I'd say it was short and sweet.

I'd listen to Connor Brannigan narrate just about anything.
Gave this a shot after Fight Tub and I wasn't disappointment. A strange dip into a prisoners mind and what dreams can become.
These novellas are wonderful for a quick flight, or your weekly commute. If anything they give you a talking point!
