I enjoyed the first few stories, but it began to fall off halfway through. However, the earlier stories stood at as some of the best i’ve ever read.

Superheroes and mutants and space travel and android boyfriends! Link is inspired by Ray Bradbury, but instead of writing stories with whip-zing plot twists, she has crafted small and recognizable dramas. So sure there are aliens next door, but this is about a girl's relationship with the mother who left her behind (to care for the aliens). Maybe the brother that complicates your life is a twin that grew out of your second shadow, but still, who doesn't understand this feeling?
Link creates moods -- sets the reader down in this palpable atmosphere. She creates fun and deep and detailed characters. Sometimes the endings itched at me -- I was left dissatisfied or confused, and wondering if withholding the satisfaction of a bang ending was a way that Link distinguished herself as literary.
