There’s a lot of stupid useless tension around, not being able to tell someone something for their own good.  I feel like that’s about a third of a book and the third of the plot points and they’ve set up the next book to be more of the same.  He can’t tell her the truth. She can’t tell him the truth. She can’t tell her best friends, the truth he can’t tell his best friend the truth, they can’t communicate with each other.  Also, the pacing is much slower than I like. Just didn’t seem like much happened in the entire book, maybe because some of the book was taken up by things that they can’t tell other people.

This was a pleasant surprise.  I wanted to read this one based on reviews I'd seen and was not disappointed. The characters were well done and the storyline was unique.  I found the world building was just the right amount.  (not overdone and not too little)  I found the writing style easy and fast paced with no lulls in the pacing. 
The only thing I am disappointed over is that I picked this up as an indie paperback and not I cannot get the rest of the series in the same format.  
I am starting the second book on KU now before it is removed!
