This book was a slog from start to finish. The pacing dragged, the dialogue was painful, and the characters felt completely underdeveloped. The FMC was unlikable, annoying, and not very believable, while the MMC had zero depth or personality. The romance lacked any real tension, the worldbuilding was vague and confusing, and I found myself skimming the last 20% just to be done with it. I kept hoping it would turn a corner, but it never did. It felt like the book was trying to be too many things at once and it just fell flat everywhere. Definitely not for me.

like an amalgamation of zodiac academy and fourth wing but better written and just as much fun. very much enjoyed the setting and the characters, and it really felt like there was an originality to it that a lot of fantasy romance lacks these days. if you like carden from the cruel prince mixed with a dash of darius from zodiac academy i highly recommend you try this.

I LOVED this book. It was everything I’ve been looking for in a story. The vibes are unmatched. I can’t wait to keep reading the rest of the series! One of my favorite reads all year.
