I actually decided to pass on this on, despite the fact that the library had the audiobook version, and I started listening.
I’ve just had it a bit with Gemma and her sister, the dynamics of the police station, the issues with the kids, etc.
I probably shouldn’t have read them so close in time.
Giving them a break.

Either this woman isn't as good as she used to be, or my tastes have changed. I found the plot implausible and the characters unlikeable. I wanted to find out who dunnit in the end, but otherwise, it was a bit of a slog to get through.

3.25 stars for the audio version. I am not a fan of the new narrator for this series. Fortunately, I believe the narrator changes again after the next book. I do in general, enjoy this series.

Excellent - Deborah's writing gets better and stronger with each new novel. Loved it.

One of the best in the series, I think. Crombie is so good with the interweaving of historical and contemporary tales and timelines.

Another absorbing read in this series.
I'm getting a bit irritated by Gemma's slacking from her own cases and butting into others - which shows that I have become invested in the caharcters.
The series is becoming more complex with a rich cast of recurring and new characters and well-plotted story lines.

Thought the ending was a little too pat, and would've liked a bit more detail on the whole 'war profiteer' thing, but overall really enjoyed this one.

Deborah Crombie weaves a masterfully told mystery with a compelling historical perspective. Duncan Kinkaid and Gemma James are back working together, unraveling a series of murders that have their roots in Nazi Germany.
As always, Crombie’s mystery is just a vehicle for examining love, commitment, and family, and she does it as well as anyone!

Excellent, and more of a traditional police procedural than the last few books in the series.
