And this is the end, for now. Now comes the book hangover, that feeling of what do I read next, no more Dex and Perry til June!

I really enjoy reading from Dex's POV, seeing what was going through his head at those critical moments. My only complaint here was I'm pretty sure one of these scenes was maybe in dex files (or I had a major case of deja vu when Dex and Rebecca met for drinks), and one was just a rehash of a scene in On Demon's Wings, without a lot added to it, so I felt it kinda could have been left out. But all in all, I really liked this one when I was afraid I wouldn't, and now I'm ready to hit New Orleans!

Too bad I can't get there til June!

This was another great look at the story from Dex's perspective. I really enjoyed seeing what he was up to while Perry was going through everything. It endeared him to me that he was so heartbroken over her leaving, and I know he said he was but still it was nice to actually read about it.

...I've been sitting at my desk speechless since I finished this. I wanna cry in joy and also in sorrow. SPOILER ALERT!!

The part that made me speechless is at the end when he kisses Perry's belly and says "I would have loved the baby too, more than you'll ever know." My heart became whole again once he said that. I was very proud of him but I just wish he really told her when she was awake. I'm actually in love with Dex! There were parts where I felt bad for him. I've been there just sitting in the dark not knowing what to do with your self. Giving up on just living b/c you lost everything. My favorite part where i just laughed so hard was this line "Uh oh, Hulk alert. NOT MY CHIPS!" Ha love it!

It was nice getting a little more Dex I really missed him in On Demon Wings. Short Novella tells us how he was feeling and handled everything with the separation.

“You’re my light in all this madness, Perry. It all fades away when I’m with you. Everything fades until it’s just you and it’s just me. I’m Dex and you’re Perry and I love you. I won’t stop loving you, even when you won’t love me. I love you more than I can ever really tell you. I love you until the end.”

I loved this so much

A real treat for Dex fans!

And really, who reading this series isn't a Dex fan? How could anyone not be? It's impossible not to love that man, even as flawed and downright incorrigible as he is!

So, this novella picks up the morning after the night before; that now infamous scene from the end of Lying Season that is forever scarred across my heart. I had to take a minute, actually, to just sit and recall that scene, to put myself in Dex's current headspace (which is basically a cluster**** of raw emotions and self-loathing), so that I wasn't coming to it too cold. Ideally, I would have read this straight after On Demon Wings as I think it fits in better there than as #6.5, but there you go.

So, our Dexy is in a terrible, dark place. And so he damn well should be! This is the story of how he climbed out of that deep pit of despair (which can be found via the second tree on the left—Princess Bride, anyone?) and how/why he became the Dex version 2.0 that came waltzing back into Perry's life in book five. There are a couple of really gut-kicking moments for Dex in the book. It was both enlightening and painful to see them from his perspective. His POV is refreshing and interesting and I can't wait to see how it works as a full-length novel in Come Alive when that releases later this year.

All together, a great read. One of those rare novellas that is well worth its cost and then some, and an absolute must read for fans of the series. It basically only reaffirmed what I already knew: I love Dex and Perry!

Another story told from DEX's POV. It covers what happened to him after Perry left him.
I'm not a fan of Dex but I read these too because I am afraid I will miss some important part of the plot.
