A great addition and final story in THE CLOCKWORK CENTURY series, especially for fans of American history, FIDDELHEAD is packed with action, spies, and schemes, all working to protect a machine whose results could change the tide of the Civil War.

There are plenty of heroes in this installment. I found all of them to be pretty fun, in particular the spy Maria (who did take some warming up to after her first introduction), and the banter she had later with a Marshal. There wasn't a whole lot of action, as this series has always seemed to focus on the action.

And the action is exciting. There are multiple plot points that allow for variation in the action and everyone gets their time to shine. The writing flows well with the quick pace, and I think this is an excellent book for anyone looking for their next steampunk adventure.
