The book excellently depicts the realities of Afganistan and the consequences that lies and betrayal can have. It has a melancholic tone, however in the end it has a satisfactory ending.

Although it has a melancholic tone it also captures the good in certain events.

this book prompted me to and gave me the courage to really talk to my dad and tell him some very important things

Hassan might be my favorite book character. He has the gentleness that comes, not from the absence of violence, but despite the abundance of it.
