I loved the gentle exploration of this book, showing lots of facets of London life that aren't as appreciated in 'literature' so often.

I know this won the Booker and everything (or it was shortlisted), and it was extremely well written, but oh my god it was so boring. Nothing happens. At all.

The author does have some witty observations, though.

Such a well written book, the characters are fascinating but this does make it quite an emotional ride. Would rate it higher except for the fact that it was quite slowly paced for me.
