AMAZING novel! The number of storylines that Bennett tells so smoothly in this novel is mindblowing! All very well-developed, engaging, and memorable!

A beautiful and timely book about motherhood and sisterhood, but also society, colorism, and gender constructs. Gorgeous writing. I've heard rumors of an HBO series and I cannot wait.

I definitely seem to have an unpopular opinion of this book. I had high hopes for it, but found it to be very boring. Parts of the book were beautiful, and heart breaking. But most of it felt like it dragged on with no real point, no real plot twists or anything to keep the readers engaged.
