Love, love John's writing. This was one of his first books I read after knowing him from Crash Course.

If you're wondering if the book is the heart breaking but beautiful coming of age story that the film is, it is. I don't cry at very many books, but this got me.

Of course the story differs in places from the film but the characters feel like the same people and listening to the book felt like getting to know more about them. Historically I've preferred to read a book before seeing the film but actually I enjoyed this way round too.

Honestly I'm v disappointed because I was literally expecting so much more from the book than what it actually delivered. Idk if it's because of some sort of fault in me lmao or wtv but I didn't shed even a single drop of tear throughout a book even though I was so eagerly waiting for my emotional outburst but I just couldn't. Throughout the book i tried but I wasn't able to form that connection w the characters like obv i won't be able to resonate w them but I wanted to connect w them like ykwim but they just felt like a bunch of strangers throughout the book and that was v frustrating coz like duhh I wanna feel sad/happy for you but I just couldn't?! Idk what to feel about them and the book in general coz you've to feel something to feel something

Uno de los mejores libros que he leído. La historia desde el comienzo me conmovió y lloré hasta el final. Ansio ver la película :') ♡ Grande Augustus Waters ♥

Hands down the BEST book of 2012. Teenagers Hazel and Augustus have both battled cancer and it is at a weekly support group meeting that the two cross paths and their love story begins. Using Augustus’s Wish, the two travel to Amsterdam in search of the ending to Hazel’s favorite book that ends abruptly without much resolution.

Funny, heartbreaking, and full of all the beauty of young love. It’s a quick read, but one that leaves a mark on you as a reader forevermore. I highly recommend this book, though only to teens and adults; language, and sexuality make this a book too mature for preteens.

After all of the hype, I finally decided to give this novel a shot, and I wasn't disappointed. The book can't quite be summed up in three words, but "hilarious and heartbreaking" is a good place to start.
