Easily could've been a couple hundred pages shorter. Why did we need to see EVERY SINGLE TRIP they took for 10yrs?? I thought it was all going to tie together in the end but there didn't seem to be a pay-off. I understand the trips were meant to show us their relationship building throughout the years but I did not need to read every little detail about every trip (eg which airbnb they stayed, how they rented cheap cars).
I know opposites attract is a thing but these two could not be more different and I just didn't see them being good for each other at all. Poppy is so inconsiderate and constantly made jokes at Alex's expense even when she knew he was uncomfortable. The whole relationship just felt like him taking care of her. I know she made him come out of his shell which is great but still I didn't root for them as a couple.
Their values were so different too.. It's clear that he wants a traditional lifestyle and she doesn't. I was hoping the book would at least explain HOW they both compromised to be together, but the book ended abruptly right after the confession.
Also the Croatia buildup throughout the whole book was so annoying because it was extremely predictable so when the reveal happened I was like that's it? The climax didn't feel like one.
Sad Puppy Face was cute the first two times but became excessive and cringe the next 20 times, especially when the dad pulled one too...

If you’re looking for a quick and easy summer read, then this book is for you. It’s not an amazing book but it’s fun to read. I wish the book wasn’t so predictable but that comes with the genre. The book also spent a lot of time referring to what happened “two summers ago” and it ended up not being as big of a deal as I thought. Also just really think a conversation between Alex and Poppy could have solved their problems.
