Absolutely LOVED it! Seldom do fictional characters feel so real; this was magical. Currently “grieving” that I finished this book and that was it for Marley and the crew. Such a wonderfully written book. Definitely at the top of my favorites list.
I feel very medium about this- nice enough story, didn't really get invested
I really loved this book! If you are looking for a complex family drama, with deep character study, this is a book for you.
This story is about the Joseph family, and as the story progresses, we learn about each of their members, and their many secrets. The story takes place in early 90s, with teenage Marley moving in to the town of Mercury. She then becomes a part of the Joseph family: parents Mick and Elise and brothers: Bay, Way and Shay.
This book is raw, it deals with generational traumas, interfamily conflicts, but also offers hope.
I recommend this to anyone looking for a good, engaging read.
Thank you NetGalley and Celadon for an early access to this book (already published on January 3, 2024).

This book really touched me in ways I didn’t expect. It was slow paced, yet full of moments that made me so invested in the story.
Mercury follows one family as they struggle through life and family dynamics. At times, it was difficult to listen to. I was so stressed for things to go “right.” There was so much struggle and miscommunication, my heart ached for the characters, specifically Marley. Marley was so loyal, sometimes to her detriment. I loved her character and spirit. She held so much love for her family. Even if she didn’t feel that she belonged most of the time, she truly was the backbone of the Joseph family.
I also loved Shay. The dynamic between him and Marley was one of my favorite parts of the entire book.
I wasn’t quite ready for the story to come to an end. Even though this is a standalone book, I could read another book set with this family. There were a few things that had some loose ends. However, the ending was so beautifully written. I’m so happy I decided to pick this book up.

It was ok, parts of the story felt drawn out and I wanted it to just get to the point. The characters were also frustrating and even though it ended happily it still didn’t feel like they changed that much.
The book was interesting but dragged on at some spots. Was difficult to connect to a majority of the characters and understand their motivations. The ending felt like it was missing something.
