Another one that I read pretty quickly and liked, but didn't love. This one is a thriller, and the twists are pretty decent. Although it does break one of the 'rules of detective fiction' in a way that made the conclusion a little too cute for my taste. Good generally, and the character development progression was nice and moving.

I was really rooting for this book (WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU!) but it fell a little bit flat.

2.5 stars (I rounded up coz queer books).

I found I just wasn't interested by the end. There almost wasn't enough plot to push things forward, the things happening weren't adding anything new to the story.

Also the ending was pretty obvious and underwhelming.

Over all, not bad. An easy read if you want to grab a quick gay thriller.

I really liked this book with the twists and turns and you don’t see many thrillers about gay married men. BUT it was a bit long for me and so many things could have been solved by COMMUNICATING

This was a lot to get through….

Good book, but I felt lost in the jumbled narrative and changing points of view. Also, the ending was a little too chaotic to fully enjoy

Type of read: Commuter Read.

What made me pick it up: Suggested from library app based on previous loans.

Overall rating: Holy layers batman! The minute I thought I figured this book out, something absolutely different would come up. I'm going to start out by first saying that this is not a book for the faint of heart. Not only are there extremely explicit sex scenes, there are descriptive storylines around assault, death, and drug use. I absolutely did not expect the ending, and I love that it ended how it did. While you can slowly see the book unraveling as you get closer to the last page, nothing truly gives it all away, which is genius writing by Vernon. I would recommend 'Bath Haus' cautiously simply due to the content but dang, that was good.

Reader's Note: 'Bath Haus' includes explicit material and themes of drug use, rape, aggressive assault, aggressive sexual assault, and mental and emotional manipulation.

This has revitalised my faith in thrillers, after I fucking hated The Girl on the Train.

Bath Haus is a claustrophobic game of cat and mouse between victim and killer, made all the more complicated by the victim's own tangled web of lies getting tighter and tighter.

Full of twists and turns, and a quick pace, this was a great read.

The story was great, so many twists and turns I absolutely did not see coming. But I'm discovering that I don't really enjoy a book, even if the plot or writing is good, if I don't like any of the characters. Every single person in this story was awful, and just so unlikable. The writing was great, and I enjoyed the story but spent the whole book wondering if I was actually enjoying it.
