A cautionary take about how far people will go to keep the appearance of stability. It does drag a bit in the last quarter of the book before the climax

The thumb crushing that Nathan left out of his presentation was already a red flag but it is a good demonstration early on of how twisted his hero complex is. He and only he can be the one to help/save someone

This book is a weird mix of thrilling and boring - it has moments of extreme tension but sometimes they're very slow to really go anywhere. I found the whole thing a bit sloppy overall - the plot didn't quite hang together, even at the end.
