This book was a very interesting read. A retelling of the classic Robin Hood tale, certain to bring out the adventurer in you. Lawhead weaves together a tale both old and new.
I just could not get into this one, which is sad considering it is about an alternate Robin Hood. Bran never grabbed me as a main character. The random chapters from other people were distracting and frankly boring. All that said I thought it was an interesting take and thought it was 'ok' hence two stars. I skipped a lot. I used to force myself to read every word now I have too many books to read, not to mention life to live, to read something that doesn't keep me interested.

Stephen Lawhead places the story of the beginnings of Robin Hood’s career in the country of Wales and makes an excellent case for this being the true birthplace of the legend. This is a true hero’s journey. With a call to action that the hero tries to deny, a great mentor, wonderful helpers, and really bad villains. It’s Lawhead at his best. What’s not to like? It

It was ok, but it didn't hook me enough to continue the series. I read this in audio format, and the narrator was ok too.
Little to no character development. Didn’t really care about the characters or what happened to them. Major events were just brushed over. Not a lot seemed to happen.
I have always been a sucker for retellings of the Robin Hood story and Stephen R. Lawhead's take was an interesting one, with its exact historical positioning of the legend in 13th century Wales. Sadly, I couldn't get swept away by the story, as the detail was dense and the characters were unlikeable. Bran especially is a bit of a dick and I realise he has a lot of growing to do... but I found myself just not caring. Not for me.
