Excellent revamping of the Robin Hood legend. Very well written, and a great story.
While I really enjoyed the last 150 or so pages, the early book just dragged. I did like the characters and the supernatural aspects woven into this RobinHood retelling.
This is a retelling of the legend of Robin Hood, woven from the real-life stories about the hooded figure. I enjoyed reading the new takes on this childhood favorite!
Glad I Read It
I was skeptical at first. But this “new take” on the familiar legend has me looking forward to the sequel! But a word of caution - this is not a story for those looking for a quick, easy read. The story is complex, the characters nuanced, and the relationships realistic.

Really enjoyed this one! Liked the accent of the narrator of the audiobook. Lawhead takes a well-known legend and makes it new.
Lawhead has taken a seemingly timeless tale of the legendary Robin Hood and located it in a neighboring culture. If you give this a listen take a moment to listen to his afterword at the end for some well spoken insight into the why of this. Legends such as this one that everyone thinks they know are wisely looked at as timeless and at the same time we all know next to nothing about what the "original" story is if there is one. Well worth the journey.
I liked it, but I was not sucked in quite so much as I could have been. Nice and interesting setting, but it did not feel like... wow.
It's an interesting take on the Robin Hood story, but Bran (robin hood) isn't very likable.
I have mixed emotions about this book. I actually like that it is not the predictable Robin Hood story. However, it was a bit long winded in some parts. I actually got lost demographically. :) I may read book 2, but not right away.
A bloody good re telling of Robin Hood. A richly layered story with much to explore and learn of. The battle scenes were vividly painted, I was able to follow each blow of the sword, each and every arrow. Lawhead is without doubt a talented writer and there is much to interest and entertain in this story. Can't wait to start the second book!
