I very much enjoyed the second installment of this trilogy. I have given it a star less but I think that's because I was so enamored with the first book this had a lot to live up to. I really enjoyed the new characters. But I struggled a little with some decisions that were made.

Loved it!!!!

I liked this one much better than the first because it had a story not just the main character figuring out what she and everyone around her was.

Though, I hate the love aspect. I love him but can't be with him, ugh so sick of that.

as much as i can acknowledge they TRIED to not "what in the alabama" the situation... they kind of failed.

this book was not nearly as "great" as the first one just because helen seems so powerless and whiney in this one and it very much got on my last nerve

This book is very trying on a person. It's all about Helen Hamilton's struggles dealing with sleeping in the Underworld without her lover (and brother), Lucas. It's amazing, even though there's nothing really special about it. I don't know. It's just sort of beautiful. (Listen to "Human" by Christina Perri while reading it. It's the perfect soundtrack/theme song for the book)

So I’ll say upfront, I thought Dreamless was a fantastic read and totally on par with its predecessor, Starcrossed. Yet like most of the people on the blogsphere, I had heard about the dreaded love triangle and while I was initially worried that Dreamless would turn into another stereotypical kind of read, I’m pleased to report that it didn’t and I enjoyed every minute of it.

This book sees Helen making nightly trips down into the underworld in search of the furies. Determined to end the blood debt between the houses, she endures every nightmare imaginable but even with her health failing, she refuses to give up the quest, even if it will cost her life.

Yet when she stumbles upon Orion (a gorgeous and powerful scion from the house of Rome), Helen finally begins to believe she may succeed after all. With Orion there to protect her, Helen learns how to navigate the unpredictable landscape of the underworld and together, they begin to unlock its secrets. But as the two of them grow closer, the danger to everyone around them grows greater, and Helen risks losing the people she cares about most...

I must admit, I thought that this book got off to a slow beginning however by the time I reached halfway, I was completely hooked. Here the story really picked up the pace and with the plot full of twists and turns, Dreamless became an impossible book to put down.

Helen I thought really developed as a character. Now in full control of her powers she can be pretty kick-ass. However she is also very selfless, determined to break the furies curse, even when each night she loses more and more of her health and sanity to the underworld.

Also despite her attraction to Orion, she is still completely in love with Lucas and her inner turmoil as she struggles to stay away from him is heartbreaking.

Lucas on the other hand, is much darker in this book. Consumed by anger and frustration, he tries his best to help Helen from afar, even at the cost of alienating himself off from the rest of his family. This gave his character much more depth and took off some of his ‘nice-guy-shine’ which if possible, only made me love him more.

As for Orion, when he first appeared I was sceptical of whether or not I could like him - but to my surprise, he turned out to be a really fabulous character. Charming and witty, he is a generally nice guy and brings out a more confident and self-sufficient side to Helen. However while I am still definitely team Lucas, Orion is impossible to hate and I can’t wait to see how things between the trio progress.

So overall, I really enjoyed Dreamless. If you haven’t read the series, I whole heartedly recommend you find yourself a copy of Starcrossed and give it a try – especially anyone who is a fan of YA romance or Greek Mythology. 4 stars!

"Göttlich verloren" hat mir etwas besser gefallen als der erste Band der "Göttlich"-Trilogie. Die Geschichte wirkt insgesamt etwas ausgereifter und auch ein bisschen erwachsener. Die Handlungen von Helen und den Anderen wirken aber leider trotzdem noch oft überstürzt und könnten ein bisschen logischer sein. Insgesamt aber empfehlenswert!

This wasn't as good as the first book but I still really enjoyed it.

After the cliffhanger of the previous book I was dubious whether Daphne was telling the truth and I was proved right upon reading this.
The scenes between Helen and Lucas were heartbreaking, knowing they love and want each other but thinking they cannot be together.
Enter in another male character Orion, similar to Lucas, who is helping Helen with the Furies.
As soon as another character like this is introduced you know a love triangle is coming up. Its going to be made more dramatic with what happened at the end.
There was some really good character development in this, all characters moved forward and are changing and for me that made this more interesting, reading how the mortals and immortals were coping alike.

To be honest I am soooo over the Twilight-y love triangle things and they bug me, but it didnt really come out in this book so made the read more enjoyable than I thought.

Unlike the Twilight books though Josephine Angelini is a far better writer and when reading this i can clearly see the whole thing play out in my head. It was enjoyable and it made a great second book and am looking forward to the next one.

Read the second half as the ebook and my god, it's so much better!
